General description of property:
The village of Stoilovo is 9 km North-East from town of Malko Tyrnovo ( Turkish Border crossing point ) and 83 km South of Bourgas city. It is based on a high hill which divides the waters of the rivers Veleka and Aidere (“Bear’s river”). Interesting tourist routs start from here. Impressive panoramic views towards Bosnensko hill, Peter’s field with the statue of Preobrazhentsi, and also centuries old beech trees of the preservation park “Sredoka” are revealed from here. Having been an ancient Hasekia settlement the traditional hand craft of basket-making is preserved in Stoilovo. The village is formed by old houses typical for the Strandja region. An intriguing discovery for the visitors of Stoilovo is the very old types of fulling mills for laundry washing. It is believed that the village is 400 years old. Local myth says that the first settlers in the area were the old man Stoil and his family. People from neighboring cottagers followed him. Numerous religious sights are to be discovered within the Stoilovo area. The oldest altar gates from ХVІІ century are preserved in the “St. Ilia” church. From here started the Preobrazhensko revolt in 1903. The waterfall of the Dokuzak river taking its source from nine karst springs, with touristy shelter and fulling-mill. The shortest walking and hiking route to the preserved area “Peter’s filed” also starts from Stoilovo. Today the place is part of the Sredoka preservation area and it is accessed only with the special permission from MOSV-Government.
